Shout-out to Yoga Props! They aren’t just there for beginners or tight hamstrings.
When used thoughtfully, props can help us explore more support, sensation, accessibility, stability, and possibility within an asana practice.
Props to My Props is a 4-hour Yoga Props Masterclass designed to help you get more confident and curious about using blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets, and other props in your own practice and/or teaching.
We’ll move beyond the idea that there is one “right” way to use a prop and explore how props can help us adapt poses to different bodies, intentions, energy levels, and needs.
Throughout this masterclass, we’ll explore:
Different ways to use common yoga props throughout an asana practice
How to make prop use feel intentional and not like a consolation prize
How props can provide support, feedback, stability, and opportunities for exploration
Ways to adapt familiar postures rather than forcing the body into a predetermined shape
Considerations for choosing and offering props when teaching different bodies and abilities
The training will also include a 75-minute guided yoga practice so you can experience many of these applications in your own body rather than just talking about them.
This masterclass is open to all practitioners and is best suited for yoga teachers and people who already have some yoga experience and want to deepen their understanding of how props can support a lifetime practice.
Yoga teachers registered with Yoga Alliance are eligible to receive 4 Continuing Education hours upon completion.
Participants will receive:
4 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education hours for eligible members
Certificate of Completion
Applied learning during the training
20% off Yoga Hustle yoga gear
Props will be available, but if you have your own blocks, yoga strap, bolster, or blankets, you’re encouraged to bring them. Practicing with the props you already own can make it easier to apply what you learn once you get home.
Come ready to move, experiment, ask questions, and probably find at least three new uses for those blocks you’ve owned for six years.
