Two-Day Yin Yoga Immersion

Yin Yoga is often described as a meditative, grounded practice where we hold poses for a long time.

Which is true...but there’s a lot more going on than lying around on a block waiting for the timer to go off.

This Two-Day Yin Yoga Immersion is an opportunity to take a deeper look at the principles, practices, and philosophy behind Yin Yoga including its relationship to functional anatomy, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), rest, resilience, and accessibility.

Together, we’ll explore not only what Yin Yoga is and what it isn't, but why we practice the way we do, how to make the practice work for different bodies, and how Yin can offer another way of relating to rest and stillness—particularly for people who have spent a lot of time pushing through, staying productive, caring for others, or living in survival mode.

Throughout the two-day immersion, we’ll explore topics including:

  • Foundational principles of Yin Yoga

  • Yin postures, variations, and functional approaches to shape

  • Anatomy, fascia, connective tissue, joints, and individual skeletal variation

  • An introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine and meridian theory as it relates to Yin Yoga

  • Using props to support, adapt, and individualize the practice

  • Sequencing and teaching methodology

  • Cueing and creating space for choice and agency

  • Trauma-informed and accessibility-minded considerations for teaching Yin

  • Why rest practices can be especially meaningful for traditionally marginalized communities

Each day will also include a 75-minute guided Yin Yoga practice, giving you time to embody what we’re discussing and experience the material rather than just talking about it.

Who is this for?

The immersion is open to all practitioners and is best suited for yoga teachers and people who already have some yoga experience.

You do not need to be a yoga teacher to attend.

Yoga teachers registered with Yoga Alliance are eligible to receive 8 Continuing Education hours upon completion of both days.

What’s included

Participants will receive:

  • 8 Yoga Alliance Continuing Education hours for eligible members

  • Certificate of Completion

  • Meridian-line reference map to use during and after the training

  • Applied learning during the training

Props will be provided, but you’re encouraged to bring your own blocks, yoga strap, bolster, and blankets if you have them. Practicing with the props you already own can make it easier to apply what you learn once you get home.

Registration includes both days of the immersion.

Come ready to practice, learn, ask questions, and get considerably nerdier about Yin Yoga 🤓
